Program Overview

Our department has a long history of comprehensive development of medical treatment, teaching and research. and now has 15 comprehensive hematology wards with 600 beds including 88 sterile transplantation chambers. It is one of the largest transplantation and cellular therapy centers in China. The center has successfully  performed more than 4,500 hematopoietic cell transplants (HCTs) and 65% of which are haploidentical HCTs, achieving outstanding therapeutic effects . The department is one of the leading centers in China to perform cellular immunotherapy for the treatment of various T/B/myeloid malignant hematologic diseases .The nursing team has made a series of outstanding contributions in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation(HSCT), CART cell therapy nursing, PICC catheterization technology, etc.

Through learning, you will have further gains in blood tumor care, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation care, and cell immunotherapy care, and will have great gains in your future work.

Program Highlights

1. Learn and care for hematological malignancies, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and cell immunotherapy with our hematology nurses in a one-on-one environment.

2. Follow the head nurse or nursing team leader to participate in nursing management, clinical nursing quality control, nursing professional training, etc.

3. A strong teaching and training program, including weekly death case and difficult case discussions .

Training Objectives

The goal of our project is to cultivate talents who can promote the development of the field of blood care, especially the development of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation nursing technology and cell therapy nursing technology, so that students can achieve a leap in their career path and achieve their best selves.

· Skill training: provide advanced HSCT and CAR-T cell therapy skill guidance and training for nurses.

· Knowledge acquisition: depth understanding of HSCT technology and its clinical application, CAR-T cell therapy technology and its clinical application

· Research participation: let nurses participate in the research to promote the practice of evidence-based nursing in patients with hematological malignant system diseases.

· Quality improvement: establish and implement standard quality indicators for the whole process management of patients undergoing HSCT.

Program Duration

The program provides a full-time,1-week training experience. In special circumstances, arrangements can be made for other lengths of training depending on your needs and interests.

Residents:

Specialist nurses who have worked in BMT for at least 5 years

Monday

Hematology ward observation

---Topics:

1. Familiarize with the Hematology ward observation through a guided tour. Understand the epidemiology of hematological malignancies,new progress of chemotherapy and immunotherapy in patients with hematologic malignancies.

2. Through clinical observation and teaching teachers' explanation, understand the concept, role, indications and development of microtransplantation.

 

Tuesday

BMT ward observation

---Topics:

Through clinical observation and teaching teachers' explanation

1. Master the types of HSCT.

2. Understand the pretreatment scheme of HSCT.

3. Familiar with the types of complications, clinical manifestations and nursing points in the process of HSCT.

 

Wednesday

Clinical rounds, Cell isolation,cryopreservation,MDT

---Topics:

1. Participated in the national multi center joint ward round for difficult and critically ill patients organized by the president

2. Guided by the instructor, visit the stem cell cryopreservation center and watch at least one case of stem cell collection or cart cell collection

 

Thursday

CAR-T cell immunotherapy ward observation.

---Topics:

1. Clinical observation of CAR-T cell reinfusion

2. Understand the complications and nursing of CAR-T treatment through teaching

 

Friday

Nursing management work, Feedback session .

---Topics:

1. Follow the head nurse to carry out nursing rounds and understand the management of the blood ward

2. Share the experience in the BMT center.

 

Weekend

Evaluation and Feedback

Each instructor will evaluate each student based on patient care, medical knowledge, professionalism, and humanistic care.
