The International Clinical Training Program in Plastic Surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital,  Zhejiang University School of Medicine, offers an unparalleled opportunity for aspiring plastic surgeons and medical students to pursue advanced training in both clinical practice and scientific research.

Training Objectives

The vision of our program is to create a global hub for advanced training in plastic surgery. Our goal is to nurture future leaders in the field by providing comprehensive clinical and research training.

Upon completion, trainees will be equipped with advanced clinical techniques, cutting-edge research methodologies, and the ability to contribute to the evolving landscape of plastic surgery.

Training objectives focus on refining clinical skills, fostering critical thinking, and nurturing research capabilities. Through hands-on clinical experiences, mentorship from leading experts, and dedicated research time, we aim to empower trainees to excel both in the operating room and in the research arena.

Program Duration

The program provides a full-time, 2-week to 6-month training experience. In special circumstances, arrangements can be made for other lengths of training depending on your needs and interests.

Target Audience & Qualifications

• Fellows: Qualified applicants must have completed standardized residency training at an accredited institution.

• Residents: To qualify for the residency qualification, you must pass the residency recruitment assessment of the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine.

• Students:

1. Must be a final-year medical student when you are scheduled to participate in the rotation. This means all your core / required clerkship rotations are complete at the time of the clinical elective.

2. Medical School Approval - indicating you are in the final year with your expected graduation date, in good academic standing and meet all requirements to complete an elective for academic credit.

Skills:

· Excision and suturing of body surface tumors and scars;

· Clinical application and basic operation of skin flap;

· Preoperative preparation and postoperative management of common plastic surgery diseases.

Weekly: MDT Conferences, Complicated Case Study

 

Tuesday

Weekly: Outpatient Observation, Academic Lecture, Basic Surgical Skills Training

 

Wednesday

Weekly: Clinical Rounds, Clinical Lecture

Weekly: Complicated Case Study, Case-Based Discussion

 

Friday

Weekly: Journal Club, Clinical Rounds, Clinical Skills Training

Evaluation and Feedback

At the end of the program, each faculty member will use a dedicated rating scale to evaluate each fellow's core competencies in medical knowledge, clinical skills, communication techniques, and system-based practice.

Faculty members meet with fellows individually for verbal feedback and evaluation.

Monthly, an aggregate evaluation of a fellow’s clinical progress is conducted through a clinical competency faculty committee.
