Program Overview

Background:

This program is designed to provide in-depth clinical training for overseas geriatric medical professionals and medical students to enhance their professional knowledge and skills in geriatric medicine.

 

Purpose:

The program aims to strengthen participants' understanding of geriatric medicine and improve their clinical diagnostic and treatment capabilities through a combination of practical and theoretical training.

 

Target Group:

Overseas geriatric medical professionals and medical students.

Program Agenda

Monday:

Department introduction and overview;

Geriatric comprehensive assessment (CGA) lecture;

Group-based practice of geriatric comprehensive assessment and report submissions.

 

Tuesday:

Ward round;

Geriatric syndromes lecture;

Intervention of geriatric syndromes case analysis, such as delirium, frailty and sarcopenia.

 

Wednesday:

Geriatric perioperative management: Preoperative and postoperative assessments for real specific cases.

Multidisciplinary team (MDT) organization.


Thursday:

Geriatric critical care management lecture: selection of oxygen therapy tools, airway management;

Operation of high-frequency ventilators;

Practical ventilator operation.

 

Friday:

Journal club, Wrap-Up & Reflection, assessment methods (such as written tests, practical assessments, report submissions).

Feedback session (e.g. online survey or live Q&A)

Participant presentations or discussion of key takeaways.


Evaluation and Feedback

Assessment Methods:

• Written Tests: To evaluate theoretical knowledge.

• Practical Assessments: To assess clinical skills.

• Report Submissions: To evaluate comprehensive application abilities.

 

Feedback:

•  Collecting participant feedback on the training experience through online surveys or live Q&A sessions.
