He is the leader of National Key Clinical Specialty-Cardiovascular Surgery, leader of the cardiopulmonary transplantation group of the Multi-Organ Transplantation Key Laboratory of Ministry of Health and the Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Organ Transplantation.

He is also the editor of multiple journals including Chinese Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery, Chinese Journal of Emergency Medicine, Journal of Zhejiang University (Medical Edition), Zhejiang Medical Journal, etc. In April and November 2009, Dr Ni won the "Golden Knife Award" in the field of cardiothoracic surgery in China and the "Chinese Physician Award".
