As a thoracic surgeon for more than 40 years, Dr. Yu have devoted his clinical practice to diagnosing and treating patients with lung cancer, mediastinal neoplasms and all other cancers of the chest cavity.

In his early years, Dr. Yu went to Switzerland to work and study in cardiovascular surgery. As early as in 2000, he successfully completed the first combined heart and lung transplant in China.He was one of the first thoracic surgeons in the China to develop expertise in lung volume reduction surgery,thoracoscopic lobectomy, arterial catheter ligation and other minimally invasive thoracic surgery. He has rich experience in the diagnosis and treatment of difficult diseases in thoracic surgery.

Dr. Yu has published dozens of papers in domestic and foreign journals, undertaken and participated in a number of scientific research projects, such as national natural science foundation, provincial natural science foundation, ministry of health, provincial education commission, and health department.
