Interests
Professor Hu possesses extensive expertise in managing joint surgical disorders. Committed to medicine‑engineering integration, he established Hunan’s first Digital Orthopaedics Center, and pioneered robot‑assisted joint arthroplasty, MR‑guided navigation, smart healthcare and 5G remote surgical guidance in China. He performs over 1,000 primary and revision joint replacement surgeries annually. He was among China’s early surgeons to carry out multi‑joint arthroplasty, shoulder, elbow, ankle replacement and unicompartmental knee arthroplasty, and completed the world’s first patient‑specific tantalum rod implantation with 3D‑printed biomimetic metallic trabecular bone.
His research focuses on bone, osteochondral tissues, orthopaedic metallic and ceramic implant materials. Multiple research outcomes have been translated into clinical practice and generated original research findings.

He holds key academic positions: Standing Committee Member & Deputy Group Leader (Joint Surgery Subgroup), Chinese Medical Association Orthopaedics Branch; Standing Committee Member & Chair (Periprosthetic Joint Infection Subgroup), Chinese Medical Doctor Association Orthopaedic Physicians Branch; Chair of the Hemophilic Joint Reconstruction Subgroup, Chinese Research Hospital Association; Deputy Chair of the Joint Disability Rehabilitation Subgroup, China Association of Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons; and several leading roles in Hunan provincial orthopaedic societies. He serves as Director of Hunan Provincial Metal‑Ceramic Engineering Center and Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory for Metals and Ceramics.
He is an editorial board member for multiple top Chinese orthopaedic journals. As an invited expert for national joint replacement technical specifications and the National Joint Registry Center, he participates in formulating key clinical industry standards.
