Professor Renya Zhan is currently the director of Department of Neurosurgery of the FAHZU, doctoral supervisor, Dean of Zhejiang university school of medicine neurosurgery department, Chairman of the Neurosurgical Section of Zhejiang Neuroscience Society, Chairman-elect of the Neurosurgery Section of Zhejiang Medical Association, Chairman-elect of the Zhejiang provincial Neuro-oncology Committee of China anticancer association.

Professor Zhan has been working in the field of Neurosurgery for 30 years，and is one of the leading neurosurgeon in Zhejiang Province, and especially, he has been dedicated in the field of microsurgical treatment and pathogenesis of cerebrovascular disease. In 2014, Professor Zhan Won the highest honor for domestic neurosurgeons---Wang Zhongcheng Neurosurgery Award for Academic Achievement, for his contribution in promoting cerebrovascular disease treatment and neurosurgical emergency care. He also led more than 10 national projects and has won 5 national and provincial awards. He also guided 12 doctoral students, 38 masters, and published more than 100 academic papers on journals including Cerebrovascular Diseases, Acta Neurochirigica, Chin J Neurosurg, Journal of Zhejiang University (Medical Science Edition). Professor Zhan was invited to visit Kiel University, Germany, as visiting scholar twice in 1998 and 2001.
