Dr. Du graduated from the School of Medicine of Zhejiang University in 1990, obtained a Master’s degree in 1993, and subsequently began her career at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine (ZJU First Hospital). In 1996 and 1998, she pursued further training in optometry at Fudan University in Shanghai and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, respectively. She was promoted to Chief Physician in 2007 and appointed as a Master’s Supervisor in Ophthalmology in 2008. Between 2010 and 2011, as a state-sponsored visiting scholar, she worked at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in the United States. She earned her Ph.D. in 2012 and was appointed as a Master’s Supervisor in the Department of Optical and Electronic Engineering at Zhejiang University in 2013. From 2016 to 2020, she also served as the Head of Ophthalmology at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University.
With extensive clinical experience, analytical clarity, and proficient surgical skills, Dr Du has led and participated in the diagnosis and treatment of numerous complex and significant eye diseases. She is recognized as one of the pioneers in China in performing laser vision correction (such as LASIK) and implantable collamer lens (ICL) surgery for high myopia. She has accumulated substantial expertise in areas such as selection for laser surgery, management of complications, prognosis assessment, and personalized surgical planning in laser vision correction and ICL implantation. In 2001, she led the development of the first high-permeability rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lens in China. In 2011, she contributed as a principal investigator in the clinical study of the first orthokeratology (OK) lenses in China.
