Overview

FAHZU Department of Dermatology was founded in 1947, one of the earliest departments with dermatological doctorial and master’s programs in Zhejiang province authorized by Ministry of Education of China. Department of Dermatology is the clinical skill training center for dermatological residents authorized by the National Health Commission, one of the first dermatological clinical pharmacology centers in Zhejiang province approved by the State Food and Drug Administration, and one of the first standardized outpatient clinics for sexually transmitted diseases in Zhejiang Province. Our daily programs include clinical work, teaching, and medical research. We Provide high quality medical care to patients. We also undertake multi-level clinical teaching and training of specialist physicians in Zhejiang University School of Medicine, and continuing education and training for dermatologists in basic hospitals inside and outside Zhejiang province. 


Our Team

FAHZU Department of Dermatology comprises more than 30 doctors, nurses and technicians, including 2 doctoral supervisors, 4 master tutors, 5 professors and senior physicians, 5 associate senior physicians, 9 attending physicians, 1 senior technician, 5 head nurses.


Treatments and Services

We provide expert outpatient clinics and general outpatient clinics. We also have psoriasis specialist, nail and fungal specialist, acne and sensitive skin repair specialist, atopic dermatitis/eczema specialist. Test items include dermoscopy, hair microscopy, skin B-ultrasound, fungal microscopy, Wood’s lamp examination, dermatopathology, immunopathology diagnosis, laboratory STD diagnosis. Treatment options include narrow wave phototherapy (UVB311, 308), carbon dioxide laser, cryotherapy, photodynamic therapy, chemical skin rejuvenation, cosmetics, and skin surgery minor operations. The annual outpatient visit volume of our department exceeds 120,000.


Research & Innovation

Our team have been in charge of over 10 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 1 sub-project of the 11th Five-Year National Major Project, more than 20 scientific research projects such as Health Commission of Zhejiang Province, Department of Education of Zhejiang Province, the Provincial Bureau of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Provincial Family Planning Commission and the Chinese Medical Association. More than 10 international and domestic multi-center clinical trials of new drugs are currently underway.


Education & Training

Our department undertakes teaching programs of the 8-year, 5-year, international students and postgraduates of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, multi-level clinical teaching work, training of specialist physicians, training of postgraduates, and refresher training and follow-up work of dermatologists in basic hospitals inside and outside the province and consultation of difficult cases as well.


Honors & Awards

Our department has won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award and more than 10 provincial, ministerial, departmental and bureau level awards, and the second prize of Zhejiang Province Medical and Health Technology Innovation, the third prize of Zhejiang Provincial Government Science and Technology Progress Award and the second prize of Provincial Education Commission. In 2019, the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences ranked 26th in the ranking of “Hospital Science and Technology Value”. Our department published more than 70 scientific articles on peer-review international journals, including NEJM, JAMA, and BMJ.
