Overview

Founded in 1984, the Kidney Disease Center of FAHZU is the National Key Clinical Specialty, and is one of the largest centers in China. In terms of overall scores, it is ranked 8th in China in 2019. It is also the Core Member Unit of the National Center for Clinical Research of Kidney Diseases, current president of Chinese Society of Nephrology, Chinese Medical Association, and the training center for Kidney Specialist and Peritoneal dialysis of Ministry of Health as well. We focus on the key points and difficulties in the treatment of kidney disease (especially for the integrative treatment of ESRD and improvements in treatment of refractory nephropathy). Our center is composed of 6 wards including 182 beds and 175 machines for blood purification. With more than 200, 000 outpatients and 7, 500 inpatients annually, we are trusted by patients throughout the whole country. We have also published more than 600 peer-reviewed papers in journals including JAMA Intern Med, JASN, AJT and won 3 national prizes and 8 first prizes in Zhejiang Province


Our Team

There are currently 315 medical staff in the our center, many of whom have gained national and international recognition for their clinical and/or research efforts. Among them, the department is equipped with a high-quality talent echelon, with 13 senior physicians, 16 associate senior physicians, 4 doctoral tutor and 11 Master's tutor. The 50% of doctors have doctorate degrees. We are united by a common purpose: seeking and developing best treatments to reduce and ultimately eliminate the devastating impact of kidney diseases.

Research & Innovation

Our department undertakes national projects such as the 115, 125, 135, and 863 projects, 973 projects, 27 national-level projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation, Provincial, Ministerial, Departmental, and Major horizontal Foundation, etc. More than 100 items.

Totally 330 articles have been published, and 196 of SCI and The total IF is more than 450, more than 459 cited times.

11. Prevention and treatment techniques for specific infection

Our results were adopted by the international clinical guidelines and we participated in the formulation of international clinical practice guidelines. Our results were adopted by the 2012 KDIGO Guidelines, and our results were adopted by the 2016 EULAR Guidelines.


Education & Training

Our department is deeply committed to training expert clinicians, clinical investigators, and medical educators including 45 doctors, 193 masters, and 7 post-doctors who will go on to be future leaders in the field. 

From 2012, the international academic forum, Nephrology Update West Lake Forum is held every year in Hangzhou for academic communication and achievements promotion. And this forum is supported by ISN and ASN, and is jointly organized by Mayo clinic, Changzheng Hospital and our center.
