FAHZU and Hong Kong Academy of Medicine Strengthen Partnership in Medical Education

The First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine (FAHZU) welcomed a delegation from the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (HKAM) on July 22, marking a new step in strengthening medical education and academic cooperation between Zhejiang and Hong Kong. The visit brought together medical educators, clinicians, and young specialists to explore new opportunities in physician development, specialist training, and clinical research. Representatives from the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR and Health Commission of Zhejiang Province also attended the visit.

During the meeting, FAHZU introduced its integrated academic medical center model, highlighting achievements in organ transplantation, translational medicine, smart healthcare, and interdisciplinary medical education. HKAM, Hong Kong's statutory institution for specialist medical and dental training, shared its specialist training framework and experience in advancing professional standards. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in specialist education, physician development, academic exchange, and clinical research.


The two institutions also exchanged perspectives on multi-campus hospital management, interdisciplinary education, faculty development, and healthcare resource integration. Future initiatives discussed included clinical observerships, young physician exchanges, joint research, and specialist training programs, reflecting a shared commitment to innovation in medical education and excellence in patient care.



Following the meeting, the delegation toured FAHZU's Clinical Skills Center, Intensive Care Unit, outpatient pharmacy, smart outpatient clinics, and intelligent logistics system. The visit showcased the hospital's integrated approach to digital healthcare, simulation-based education, and patient-centered care, while providing opportunities for professional exchange on clinical practice and hospital operations.



The visit strengthened ties between FAHZU and HKAM and laid the groundwork for expanded cooperation in specialist training, academic exchange, and clinical research. Building on this partnership, both institutions look forward to advancing medical education and deepening healthcare collaboration between Zhejiang and Hong Kong.
