From June 13 to July 12, 2026, ten nursing managers and clinical nursing professionals from the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine (FAHZU) completed a one-month program at Stanford Health Care (SHC).

As the third cohort of the FAHZU–SHC Nursing International Knowledge Exchange Program, the delegation participated in clinical observations and professional exchanges focusing on patient experience, patient safety, shared leadership, age-friendly care, standardized clinical pathways, specialty nursing, and nursing innovation.

What impressed the delegation most was not only Stanford’s advanced Nursing technology, but also its culture of care. From the C-I-CARE communication model and system-based safety practices to multidisciplinary collaboration and nurse-led innovation, every process reflected a shared commitment to making patients feel safe, respected, understood, and cared for.

Since FAHZU and SHC established their partnership in 2024, the two institutions have continued to strengthen collaboration in healthcare innovation, talent development, research, and management. This program further deepened mutual understanding and provided valuable insights for improving nursing quality and patient-centered care at FAHZU.

Rather than simply copying another healthcare model, FAHZU Nursing will adapt the principles learned at Stanford to local clinical practice. The program represents another meaningful step toward developing high-quality nursing with both professional excellence and human warmth.
