FAHZU held International High-quality Development Forum with Stanford Health Care

April 2nd has witnessed the International High-quality Development Forum between the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine (FAHZU) and Stanford Health Care (SHC) at Qingchun Campus of FAHZU. The event took place at the FAHZU brought together leading experts from both institutions.

Stanford Health Care, recognized as one of the world's leading medical institutions, is known for its pioneering achievements in medical science, including significant breakthroughs in heart transpants, lung transplants, cancer treatment, etc.


The forum was an opportunity for both institutions to showcase their advancements and collaborations. Prof. Liang Tingbo, President of FAHZU, highlighted the hospital's progress in various fields, including scientific research, medical education, and international partnerships, tracing the friendly exchanges back to the memorandum of understanding signed in 2012. This partnership has since blossomed, with over 20 medical staff exchanges, 30 academic meetings, and more than 20 joint publications.


Alison Kerr, Senior Vice President, Chief Clinical Operations Officer at SHC expressed her gratitude to FAHZU for its hospitality and applauded its interdisciplinary achievements, and then probed into Stanford's approaches to clinical operations. Michael Pfeffer, Associate Dean and Chief Information Officer at Stanford Health Care and Stanford University School of Medicine, explored the impact of AI and digital technology in healthcare, while Thomas Montine, Chair of the Department of Pathology at SHC, delved into the future of clinical pathology, emphasizing the role of education and research in its evolution.

Following the forum, the Stanford delegation toured medical facilities at  FAHZU headquarters, including the International Healthcare Center and the smart logistics system, impressed by its modern management and technological advancements.

As FAHZU aims to fulfill its goals for new phase of development, this event underscores its commitment to fostering international cooperation, advancing medical science, and contributing to global health community building.
