On September 24, the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine (FAHZU) welcomed a delegation from the United Arab Emirates, led by Prof. Nawal Al Kaabi, China Government Friendship Award Laureate and professor of Khalifa University. The delegation was received by Prof. Liang Tingbo, President of FAHZU and Hu Xin, Director of the Department of International Affairs of FAHZU.
Prof. Liang extended a warm welcome to Prof. Nawal Al Kaabi, Cara Chen and Erica Cai, emphasizing that the UAE is a key partner for FAHZU in the Middle East. He highlighted the recently launched China-Arab States Science and Technology Cooperation Center for Public Health by Ministry of Science and Technology of China at FAHZU in this July as a key platform for this collaboration. The Center provides a unique foundation for a full-chain partnership, spanning from basic research and professional education to clinical care.
Prof. Nawal Al Kaabi expressed a strong commitment to enhancing collaboration with FAHZU in key areas including joint clinical trials, vaccine promotion, and technology exchange. She emphasized that such partnerships would help advance cross-border clinical and scientific cooperation, ultimately addressing common health challenges and improving healthcare outcomes for both regions.
During the talks, both parties agreed to further deepen cooperation based in mutual interests by promoting practical projects in areas such as joint surgical demonstrations and international training programs.
During their visit, Prof. Nawal Al Kaabi and her delegation toured the State Key Laboratory for Diagnosis and Treatment of Infectious Diseases, where they probed into potential collaboration in Infectious Diseases with Prof. Zheng Min, Vice President of FAHZU. Later they headed to FAHZU Headquarters Phase I and visited Central Laboratory, International Healthcare Center, the Department of Pathology and the Smart Logistics System. They spoke highly of FAHZU's achievements in cutting-edge medical research, AI-powered healthcare, and high-quality clinical services.
The collaboration between FAHZU and the UAE, anchored by the Center, is poised to become a catalyst for a healthier future. It stands as a testament to the shared commitment of both nations to not only address health challenges but also to build a bridge for the China-Arab community with a shared future in health.
