On March 12, 2026, a delegation led by Professor Tan Eng Chye, President of the National University of Singapore (NUS), visited the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine (FAHZU), to explore opportunities for deeper collaboration in academic medicine, smart healthcare innovation, and translational research.

Hosted by senior leadership from Zhejiang University and FAHZU, the visit provided an overview of the hospital’s integrated clinical and research ecosystem. Through engagements across key clinical and operational platforms, the delegation gained insight into FAHZU’s efforts to advance patient-centered care through the application of artificial intelligence, data-enabled clinical systems, and interdisciplinary innovation.
Strategic discussions focused on areas of shared priority, including medical artificial intelligence, joint development of clinician–scientists, and collaborative clinical research. Professor Tan highlighted NUS’s strengths in functional nanomaterials and biomedical engineering, noting the strong potential for synergy with FAHZU’s extensive clinical resources and translational capabilities.
Vice President LI Xiaoming of Zhejiang University emphasized that the visit represents an important step in strengthening institutional partnership. By aligning complementary strengths in research, clinical innovation, and global engagement, both institutions aim to advance talent development, accelerate research translation, and contribute to improvements in global health.
