The Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery Department of FAHZU is one of the largest HBP centers in China, which consists of 13 wards with over 500 beds. Our department contains independent ICU, endoscopy unit, DSA operation rooms, laminar flow air system and other advanced facilities, providing tertiary referral services for various hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases. Our department is renowned as the founding member of nationally authorized doctoral degree disciplines, postdoctoral stations, National Key Disciplines and National Key Clinical Specialties.

Currently, our staff team consist of more than 150 physicians and scientists. Outstanding faculty members include member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, distinguished professors of Chang Jiang Scholars Program, winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and Qiu Shi distinguished professor of Zhejiang University.

HBP Department conducts more than 6,000 cases of hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery annually, ranking top in Zhejiang province and China. Multi-Disciplinary management of complicated hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases has been the standard of care in our department to establish individualized diagnosis and treatment strategies for the patients.

With the sole nationally certificated clinical gene sequencing platform in Zhejiang province, our department dedicates to developing a precise and effective individual program for every patient who suffering from hepatobiliary or pancreatic cancer.

HBP Department are one of the pioneers in China in implementing the enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) program. The ERAS program has improved post-operative recovery of patients by reducing surgical complications and shortening the length of hospital stay. We have also been one of the leading groups in publishing the first Chinese expert consensus of ERAS in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery.

The liver transplantation division of HBP Department has performed more than 3,000 cases of liver transplantation and built a global reputation. As one of the largest liver transplantation centers in China, our center pioneered in performing the most challenging transplant procedures including split liver transplantation, combined liver and kidney transplantation, intestine transplantation, liver-intestine cluster transplantation, pancreas transplantation, combined pancreas and kidney transplantation, etc.
