The Department of Gastroenterology, established in 1962, is the earliest founded gastroenterology department in Zhejiang Province. In terms of science and technology evaluation metrics (STEM), it is ranked 2th in China in the year of 2019. It is also the National Key Clinical Specialty. It is equipped with clinic, ward, endoscopy center, gastrointestinal mobility room and digestive laboratory. With 4 specialty groups and more than 54 digestive disease specialists on staff, the Department of Gastroenterology is one of the largest and most deeply experienced in China. Doctors in the Department of Gastroenterology form a diverse team of deeply experienced specialists to care for people with digestive tract and liver disorders. 

At present, the annual outpatient amount is more than 300,000 and the discharge amount is over 5,000. The number of annual gastroscopy examination exceeds 30,000, and colonoscopy examinations over 10,000. We are trusted by patients throughout the whole country.

Our department consists of 57 physicians, with 13 senior physicians and scientists, 13 associate senior physicians, 7 supervisors for PHD students and 13 master's supervisors.

Many doctors have gained national and international recognition for their clinical and research efforts. Our faculty members of excellence include President of Chinese Society of internal Medicine, Member of Chinese Society of Digestive Diseases, Member of Chinese Society of Digestive Endoscopy.
