Key Lab of Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment of Mental Disorders of Zhejiang Province

Overview

Key Lab of Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment of Mental Disorders of Zhejiang Province was officially established in July 2014 after The approval of The Ministry of Science and Technology.Passed the assessment in July 2017.The laboratory is supported by Zhejiang University, headed by Professor Lu Lin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of The Institute of Mental Health of Peking University, and headed by Professor Xu Yi.

Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory for diagnosis, Treatment and Prevention of Mental Disorders is the only provincial key laboratory for the prevention, control and clinical diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. The laboratory can independently carry out psychoneuropharmacology, animal model production and research of mental disorders, neuropsychology, psychoneurogenetics and neurobiochemistry and other tests. In addition to the basic work, two state-level continuing education classes should be held every year to play an irreplaceable role in the prevention and treatment of mental disorders in our province.

The main research interests of the laboratory include the pathogenesis of depression and the optimization of treatment; The whole study of schizophrenia from early warning to treatment; Genomic and neuroimaging studies of sexual orientation;Research, demonstration and promotion of rTMS technology in mental illness. In previous studies, the HPA axis regulating pathway related mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of depression, schizophrenia brain imaging and the characteristics of neural immune system function research, genome-wide association analysis (GWAS), and as the male brain network research, rTMS key technology research and application of research and application fields have achieved good results.

At present, there are 40 permanent members in the laboratory, and the proportion of doctor is as high as 77.5%.the laboratory has 4 direction leaders, 2 visiting professors and 1 recipient of outstanding Youth Fund of National Foundation of China. Since its establishment, the laboratory has received 30 scientific research projects, with a total funding of 5.97 million yuan.I have published 59 articles, including 8 papers with a score of 10 or above.

Equipments

1.Laser confocal microscopy (Olympus Confocad)

Introduction:The laser confocal scanning microscope USES the laser as the scanning light source, and makes rapid scanning imaging point by point, row by row, and plane by plane. The scanning laser and the fluorescence collection share an objective lens. The focal point of the objective lens is the focal point of the scanning laser, which is also the object point of instantaneous imaging. The system is focused once and the scan is limited to one plane of the sample. When the focusing depth is different, images of different depth levels of the sample can be obtained. All the image information is stored in the computer. Through computer analysis and simulation, the three-dimensional structure of the cell sample can be displayed.

The Laser confocal scanning microscope can be used to observe the cell morphology, and can also be used for quantitative analysis of intracellular biochemical components, optical density statistics and cell morphology measurement. With the focus stabilization system, the long-term dynamic observation of living cells can be realized.

2. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation techniques (human and animal) (Magstim,MAGSTIMRAPID2、YRD-CCY1)

Introduction:Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) was created by Barker in 1985.Based on the principle of electromagnetic induction and electromagnetic conversion, the magnetic field generated by the transient current of the stimulation coil penetrates the skull to generate the induced current to stimulate neurons and trigger a series of physiological and biochemical reactions. As a non-invasive stimulation technique, TMS acts on the human brain to induce changes in neural activity, and can detect changes in motor evoked potentials, changes in brain electrical activity, cerebral blood flow, metabolism and brain functional state. Its microscopic effects include changes in membrane potential, action potential, neurotransmitter, receptor, synapse and neuroplasticity. At present, the technical level of this project is leading in China.2015 domestic takes the lead in the introduction of neural directional navigation, uses the international advanced treatment concept, combined with mri brain image navigation technology, positioning accuracy, actively develop depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, sleep disorder, directional treatment technology such as schizophrenia, obviously improve the curative effect than conventional positioning, and explore the neural mechanism of related, is currently in the domestic leading level.

3. Functional near infrared spectroscopy (ETG-4000 Near infrared brain imaging system (Hitachi Medical Corporation, Tokyo, Japan))

Introduction:Functional near infrared spectroscopy (FNIRS) is a kind of electromagnetic radiation wave between visible light and mid-infrared radiation, which uses the good scattering of the main components of the blood to 600-900nm near infrared light, so as to obtain the changes of oxygenated hemoglobin and deoxyhemoglobin during brain activity. The technique is applied to advanced cognitive developmental psychology and abnormal psychology in natural situations. At the same time, it is considered as a brain functional imaging technology that can meet the above requirements, providing a new perspective for neurocognitive science. Functional near infrared imaging is widely used in imaging with little interference, no slicing, no strong fluorescent interference, and has the potential of fast, nondestructive, in-situ and online analysis.

4. Ethological platforms (Elevated Cross maze, water maze, forced swimming, Y Maze, open field, sucrose intake)

Introduction and Application:The animal Behavior platform, also known as the "animal behavior and neuroscience" public technology platform. It is mainly used to meet the needs of researchers both inside and outside the school for the detection of animal's exploration ability, learning and memory such as space and fear, anxiety and depression, social activities and addiction, etc. It is established on the basis of the urgent need of researchers to systematically study the neural and spiritual behaviors such as animal learning, cognition and emotion.Since the establishment of the platform, it has opened its services to research institutions inside and outside the university, and purchased a series of behavioral science equipment widely used in the world, such as Morris water maze system, open field test, elevated cross maze, Y Maze, forced swimming, mouse suspended tail experimental system, open field experimental system and so on.
