FAHZU Surgical Oncology Department is the National Key Clinical Discipline (Oncology), the Gastrointestinal Cancer Research Center of Zhejiang Province, and the key discipline of cancer therapeutics in integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine of Zhejiang Province. Our department is composed of two wards with a total of 68 beds in Qingchun Campus and Zhijiang Campus. 

Our department comprises more than 60 staffs, with extensive experience in surgical treatment and medical care. Professor Teng Lisong serves as the head of the department, and Zhang Haibin, the deputy chief nurse, serves as the head nurse. There are 6 chief physicians, 7 deputy chief physicians among the surgical team.

Our department provides advanced surgical treatment and medical care for digestive tract tumors, breast tumors, thyroid tumors and soft tissue sarcomas. Each year, more than 3000 patients are admitted and surgically treated. A series of novel surgical procedures, including laparoscopic gastrectomy, pylorus-preserving gastrectomy for early gastric cancer and laparoscopic thyroidectomy, are performed in the department. Specialists in the department are among the pioneers who adopted multi-disciplinary teams (MDT) in the treatment of complicated cancer cases. Collaborative management and high level of peri-operational care provide outstanding clinical outcomes.

Our Department has long been involved in advanced basic and clinical oncology research. The head of the department, professor Teng Lisong, is one of the Qiushi Distinguished Professors of Zhejiang University. Researchers of our team have been granted for a bunch of national and provincial research funds.
