Thyroid Surgery

Overview

Department of Thyroid Surgery is the predominant and professional clinical and research center focus on various thyroid and parathyroid diseases in Zhejiang Province. The center was founded in 2012, with a ward of 21 inpatient beds. In 2014, a new ward of Chenzhan Campus with 11 inpatient beds was extended. And in 2020, another ward of Zhijiang Campus with 22 inpatient beds was established. At present, the center has three wards, which contain 54 inpatient beds totally. There are 6 attendings, 9 fellows and 5 residents. Each year, the center treats more than 70,000 outpatients, and 3000 major operations nearly are carried out.

Our department consists of 20 surgeons, many of whom have gained national recognition for their clinical efforts. There are 6 attendings, 9 fellows and 5 residents.

We are united by a common purpose: seeking new treatments and cures that will reduce and ultimately eliminate the devastating impact of thyroid and parathyroid diseases. 


Treatments and Services

The department is expert in the comprehensive treatment of thyroid cancer, nodular goiter, thyroid adenoma, hyperthyroidism, and parathyroid disease. New advanced technologies as ultrasound guided puncture of thyroid nodules, endoscopy thyroidectomy and recurrent laryngeal Nerve monitoring are carried out routinely. The center is dedicated to provide professional, individualized and refined treatment for each patient.

Education & Training

The center undertakes teaching and standardized training for medical students and residents, and forms a technical radiation network to promote the standardized diagnosis and treatment of thyroid diseases. At the same time, provincial academic conferences on the progress of diagnosis and treatment of thyroid diseases are regularly organized every year.


Honors & Awards

Wu Yijun is the current Clinical Director and Master supervisor of the department. He is currently an Executive Member and Deputy Secretary-general of Thyroid Disease Professional Committee of Chinese Research Hospital Society, a Member of Thyroid Surgeon Committee of Surgeon branch of Chinese Medical Doctors Association, a Deputy Secretary-general of thyroid surgery committee of Zhejiang Anti-Cancer Association, a Standing Member of Professional Committee of Parathyroid and Bone Metabolism Diseases of Hospital Society, a Deputy Leader of Thyroidology Group of Surgery Branch of Zhejiang Medical Association, a Deputy Chairman of Thyroid Professional Committee of Zhejiang Anticancer Association, a Member of Oncology and Surgery Branch of Zhejiang Medical Association, and a Member of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Branch of Zhejiang Medical Association. He has chaired and participated in 1 national funds and a number of provincial and ministerial projects, published more than 20 SCI papers as the first or corresponding author.
